Nib Privacy Policy
The short version
Your documents, scans and signatures stay on your iPhone. They never leave your device unless you choose to share or export them, and we cannot see them. You don't need an account. To understand how the app is used, fix crashes and manage purchases, Nib sends a limited set of technical data to three service providers: Google Firebase Analytics, Google Firebase Crashlytics and RevenueCat. This data never includes your documents, file names or signatures. We don't use it for advertising and we don't track you across other companies' apps and websites.
Who we are
Nib is made by Suzani. For the purposes of data protection law, the controller is Dmitriy Omelchenko, Beograd, Serbia. You can reach us at [email protected].
What stays on your device
Everything you create in Nib is stored only in the app's private storage on your iPhone:
- documents you import, scan or photograph, and the changes you make to them;
- your signatures and initials;
- text and dates you add to pages;
- your settings, such as the Face ID lock.
This data is protected by iOS Data Protection and is not accessible to other apps. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. It stays on your device until you delete it in the app or delete the app.
What the app sends and why
Usage analytics (Google Firebase Analytics)
The app records a small number of events about how its screens are used: starting and completing the introduction and the step reached, opening the subscription screen and where it was opened from, choosing a plan, starting a purchase, and whether a purchase or restore succeeded, failed or was cancelled. With each event, Firebase records an app instance ID (a random identifier created when you install the app), your device model, iOS version, app version, language, and an approximate location (country and region) that Google derives from your IP address. We use this to understand which parts of the app work and where people get stuck. Advertising personalization is turned off, and the app does not collect the advertising identifier (IDFA) or the identifier for vendors (IDFV).
Crash reports (Google Firebase Crashlytics)
If the app crashes or an operation fails, Crashlytics receives a crash report: the stack trace, device model, iOS version, app version, free memory and disk space, a crash report identifier, and a short log of recent actions such as "import started" or "export completed". For failed operations we send only the type of operation and a general error category, such as "unreadable file". We use this only to find and fix bugs.
Purchases (RevenueCat)
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are paid through Apple. RevenueCat helps us check which plan you have. It receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase and subscription history from Apple (product, price, dates, renewal and cancellation status, country of the App Store) and basic device and app information. To connect purchases with app usage, the app also passes the Firebase app instance ID to RevenueCat. We never see your name, email address or payment details. Apple's handling of your purchase is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
What is never sent
The content of your documents, scans, signatures or initials, file names and paths, text you type on pages, your contacts, and your precise location are never sent to us or to these providers.
Service providers and international transfers
- Google LLC (Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics), USA — Firebase privacy information.
- RevenueCat, Inc., USA — RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
They process the data on our behalf and under their data processing terms. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers are protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. We do not sell your data or share it with anyone else.
Access to your iPhone
- Camera — only to scan paper documents when you tap Scan. Images are processed on your device and become pages of your document.
- Photos — Nib uses the system photo picker and does not ask for access to your library. The app receives only the photos you select.
- Files — when you open or save a PDF, you choose the file or folder in the system file browser. The app gets access only to that file.
- Face ID or Touch ID — if you turn on the app lock, iOS checks your face or fingerprint. The app only learns whether the check succeeded. Your biometric data never leaves the Secure Enclave and is never available to us.
You can change camera and Face ID access at any time in the iOS Settings app.
Sharing, exporting and printing
When you share, save or print a document, it goes to the app, service or printer you choose, such as Mail, Messages, Files or AirDrop. From that moment the privacy policy of that destination applies. Nib does not send a copy anywhere else.
Backups
If iCloud Backup is turned on for your iPhone, iOS includes Nib's data in your encrypted device backup, as it does for most apps. This backup is created and stored by Apple under your Apple Account. We have no access to it. You can manage backups in Settings › [your name] › iCloud › iCloud Backup.
When you contact us
If you write to us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you choose to attach, such as the app version or a screenshot. We use this only to answer you and to fix the problem you report. Please don't send us documents that contain sensitive personal information. If you need to show us a problem with a file, a screenshot with the content hidden is usually enough.
How long we keep data
- On your device: you control it. Delete a document or signature in the app, or delete the app to remove all of its data. We cannot recover deleted documents, because we never had a copy.
- Usage analytics: event data is kept for 14 months, then deleted automatically.
- Crash reports: kept for 90 days.
- Purchase records: kept by RevenueCat for as long as you have an active purchase and as needed for accounting and legal obligations, then deleted. Apple keeps its own records under its policy.
- Support emails: up to 12 months after the conversation ends, or sooner on request.
Legal basis
We process analytics, crash and purchase data on the basis of our legitimate interests in providing a working app, fixing errors, managing your purchases and improving the app (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), and, for purchases, to perform our contract with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). We process support emails to answer your request (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the European Union, the United Kingdom and California, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. To use any of these rights, write to [email protected]. Because we don't know who you are, we may ask for details that help us find the data, such as the date of a purchase. If you live in the EU or the UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
We do not sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined in California law.
Children
Nib is a general-audience productivity app and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Your documents are protected by your iPhone's passcode, iOS Data Protection and, if you turn it on, the app's Face ID lock. They are never uploaded, so there is no online copy of them that could be breached. Data sent to our service providers is encrypted in transit.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page and update the date above. If a change affects how your data is handled, we will also mention it in the app's release notes.
